prinzmarie asked: Love your pictures. I used to live in tokyo near Arisugawa koen and I had to smile looking at these pics. Nice job.
Thanks. I used to live in that area too, but near Nisseki on top of the hill.

After over a day of travel yesterday - I ended up taking an indirect flight and my connecting flight was delayed several hours - I’m finally back in San Francisco. Here’s hoping it’s not another six years before I am back in Japan.
Happy New Year and あけましておめでとうございます to everyone and I’ll be putting more stuff up shortly.
Today was my last full day in Japan and tomorrow I’ll be headed back to San Francisco. I didn’t really think it would be the case, but one month went by much quicker than expected. What’s even more unbelievable is that one month was not enough time to do everything I wanted. I guess you could say this was the “going down memory lane” trip; I saw a lot of old friends and visited some old haunts. However, there were many other places I wanted to visit and people whom I wanted to see. Those things will have to wait for now.
When I get back, I will continue this blog as I have some 2000+ pictures to look at and edit. The ones I posted here were, for the most part, untouched, just pictures that struck my fancy. After I run out of things to say about Japan, I’ll probably still keep this blog going as a way to share photos as, like many others on Tumblr, I’m an amateur photographer who’s interested in sharing ideas and techniques. Stay tuned!
We moved on from Tokyo to Fujisawa, a city on the southeastern coast of Kanagawa and about 15 minutes from Yokohama by train. The area is known as Shonan, an area in Kanagawa that’s known to be a little more laid back - I used to live in nearby Hiratsuka, so I can attest to that - but not too off the beaten path.
Our plan is to visit nearby Enoshima and Kamakura, both very traditional areas of Kanto. Since we arrived in the late afternoon, I hardly got any shots before dark, but I did take several of the area near the station which is a sort of marvel of overhead walkways and hangovers in a compact space.
